There are two types of flow in the boundary layer. "Hard-point" blades, with tips as hard as an ordinary file, eliminate resharpening. The binder (usually a natural or synthetic resin) is that part of the vehicle which eventually solidifies to form part the dried paint film. This allows manufacturing engineers to identify trends or problems with the fastening process.
